Small Habits for a Greener Company

How we are making a difference

Most Brands Just Talk About Sustainability. We Planted a Forest.

The supplement industry has a greenwashing problem. Brands stick a leaf on their packaging, swap one ingredient for a “plant-based” alternative, and market themselves as sustainable. It looks good. It means very little.

We’re not interested in that. Phyto Pro was built in a functional medicine practice around one principle, First Do No Harm. That principle doesn’t stop at what goes into the tub. It extends to how we make it, what we make it from, and what we give back in the process. Here’s what that actually looks like.

First, Let’s Talk About the Problem

Most supplement brands are built around what sells. Cheap protein sources, artificial flavours, chemical extraction methods, and packaging designed to look good on a shelf. The environmental cost of all that rarely appears on the label.

Every decision we make has to answer two questions: is it good for the person using it, and is it good for the world we all share?

Here’s where that shows up in practice.

Why Whey when Peas will do?

Whey protein comes at a steep cost to your immune system, to the cows, and to the planet. Dairy farming is one of the most resource-intensive industries on Earth. We chose pea protein because it performs just as well nutritionally and gives back in ways whey simply can’t.

While peas grow, they fix nitrogen back into the soil, naturally replenishing it without synthetic fertilisers. The numbers speak for themselves: pea protein requires 90% less water than dairy farming and produces 75% less CO₂ than animal-based protein.

Choosing pea protein wasn’t just a health decision. It was an environmental one. And we’d make it again every time.

Our Protein Is Extracted With One Ingredient: Water.

Most manufacturers use harsh chemical solvents to extract protein from their source. Those chemicals don’t disappear — they leave residue in the final product and cause significant environmental damage in their production and disposal.

We use water extraction only. No chemicals. No solvents. No bleaching agents. No residue left behind to hurt your health or the Earth. Just the full spectrum of amino acids your body needs, extracted the way nature intended.

Water extraction costs more. It takes longer. We do it anyway.

The process is the product.

We Planted a Forest. An Actual One.

A lot of brands talk about carbon offsets, essentially paying someone else to plant trees while continuing business as usual. We didn’t want that.

In partnership with Greenpop, the Phyto Pro Forest is real indigenous trees, restored land, and real ecological impact. Not an offset. Not a pledge. A forest. And we’re still planting.

When you choose Phyto Pro, you’re contributing to something bigger than a protein shake. Every tub is part of that forest.

Does the Brand Behind Your Protein Support the Planet?

It’s a question worth asking. Every choice we make is a considered one, from the ingredient in the tub to the tub itself, to the forest we planted to give back.

We do. And now, so do you.

We Don’t Have It All Figured Out. Nobody Does.

Sustainability is a direction, not a destination. There are still areas we’re working to improve, such as packaging, supply chains, and more. We’ll be honest about that, because honesty is also part of the brand.

What we can promise is that every choice is intentional. The ingredient. The process. The packaging. The forest. Not perfect. Just committed.

The health of the planet and the health of the people on it are the same conversation. That’s why it’s always been part of ours.
